Directions from
Bangor, Maine
Take Route 1 from Bangor to East Machias, (about 2 hours). Turn right on Route 191.
After turning onto 191 and driving for approximately 8-10 miles, you will pass a U.S. Navy base on your right. Across the bay on the right, enormous towers blink red as they communicate with the Atlantic submarine fleet.
After another 10 minutes of driving, you will pass a cemetery on your right, and about a mile after that there will be another cemetery. At this juncture, a sign points to Cutler to the left and Little Machias Road to the right. If you don't see this sign, you haven't driven far enough. A small SeaLedges sign is also tacked to the post here.
Take a right at the cemetery, and go 1.5 miles to the entrance to Sea Ledges. The cottage is at the entrance on your left. The Main House is located one mile down the private road. If you find yourself in the quaint fishing village of Cutler, you turned the wrong way (it seems to happen quite often).
